    What to do at home

    1. Do not give any medication
    2. Save samples of vomit, urine, stool
    3. Note urine colour (dark = haemolysis)
    4. Transport immediately

    When to call the vet

    • →Any jaundice — always emergency
    • →Dark (tea-coloured) urine
    • →Vomiting, anorexia, lethargy
    • →Known tick exposure in the past 2 weeks

    FAQ

    Is jaundice linked to babesiosis?

    Yes. Babesia destroys red cells, causing haemolytic jaundice. Without urgent treatment, mortality is high.
